Writer's picture: Judy HaskellJudy Haskell

This method of cooking vegetables is so quick, easy and nutritious! Use nearly any combination and chances are they'll be ready in 10 minutes. No added butter, salt or oil for frying. No nutrients lost like when boiling or baking. Add more delicious, steamed veggies to your daily meals. Your body will be glad you did!

All you need is a steamer basket that fits into a pot filled a 1/3 of the way with water. Two (2) servings. Double or triple for a larger family.

INGREDIENTS:

1 small broccoli head, cut into pieces

1 sweet potato, peeled and cut into 1 inch cubes

Other good veggie combos are cut up green beans, carrots, asparagus, brussel sprouts, cauliflower, zucchini, even onions can be added, too!

DIRECTIONS:

Fill pot about 1/3 full of water.

Place steamer basket inside (not touching water).

Add cut up veggies to the basket.

Cover pot & basket with lid & turn heat to high.

Bring water to a boil and reduce temp. only slightly. You should see steam coming from the vent of the lid.

Continue to steam for 10-12 minutes.

The veggies should appear to be a bright,

crisp color and easily pierced with a fork.
